Adolphus Allen Obituary

Adolphus Allen affectionately known as “Uncle Gus” was born on December 9, 1924 in Americus, Georgia to Ms. Irene Belcher and Mr. John Allen.

Uncle Gus grew up in very humble surroundings in a house that was built by his Dad John who was a Carpenter in a wooded area. Uncle Gus was a very brilliant child. He was able to comprehend and understand various things as if it was just common sense to know it. Uncle Gus developed a very strong love and desire to play the Piano at a very young age and with his very special GOD given gift to comprehend at such a young age. Uncle Gus practically learned how to play the Piano on his own. Uncle Gus was able to play so well. That he was given a chance to audition at the world-famous Julliard School of Music in New York City in 1944 and he showed so much talent, that he was given a music scholarship to attend Julliard.  Uncle Gus became such an accomplished piano player while studying at Julliard, when he graduated from Julliard in 1949, he was given the Honor to play piano for the great Paul Robson in a Concert.

Nevertheless, Uncle Gus's exceptional gift to learn did not stop there. He learned how to speak French Spanish German and Latin and earned his Master’s Degree in Teaching and taught school.  Uncle Gus also knew math physics and electronics.

Uncle Gus had his own Medical Library and Chemistry Library and because Uncle Gus knew physics and Chemistry so well that when he got sick he somehow got hold of a pad that the doctors would use to write prescriptions out on and Uncle Gus wrote his own prescription in Latin and the Pharmacist understood it completely, thinking it was written by a doctor and filled the prescription for Uncle Gus (Genius) to say the least !  Uncle Gus was an Intellect yet still a very humble caring understanding and Loving Man.

Uncle Gus siblings were James Allen, Lee Allen, Henry Allen, William Allen, George Allen, Carl Allen Sr., Charles Allen. And Sisters Jessie Ray and Georgia Allen - All of whom has predeceased him.

Uncle Gus was the last elder of our Allen Family. He is survived by his Nieces and Nephews: Carl Allen Jr., Joan Allen, Barbara Allen, Emerson Allen, Melvin Allen, Charles Allen, Jr. (Predeceased) Tina Allen (Predeceased) and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews.

We will Love You Forever - Uncle Gus thank you for the very warm love that you always gave us.

And We Miss You Already - Rest in Peace Uncle Gus
