Alberta Flowers was born on October 20, 1930 in Morven, North Carolina. She had seven siblings (three brothers and four sisters), all of whom preceded her in death.
Alberta was united in marriage to Joe Liles Sr. This union produced four sons - George, Eddie (who preceded her in death), Jack and Joe. She also gave birth to an older son, Leroy Flowers.
Alberta moved from North Carolina to New York shortly after her husband’s death early in their marriage.
In New York, she secured employment providing Home Care in Great Neck, Long Island. She was later employed at Kings County Hospital and moved on to Downstate Medical Center where she worked for forty years prior to her retirement as Supervisor, House Keeping Department.
Alberta worshiped and fellowshipped at First AME Zion Church, Brooklyn, NY before becoming a member of The Christian Cultural Center (CCC), in Brooklyn, NY. She was an avid worshipper and a staunch believer in faithfully paying her tithes and offerings to the Lord, as well as giving support to many of her church’s activities.
Alberta transitioned this life on June 19, 2019. She was well prepared and advised those around her that she was ready to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind four sons: Leroy, George, Jack, and Joe; adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of many friends.
Alberta’s life was best exemplified by her favorite saying:
“The Lord will make a way somehow.”
...And Mom, the Lord always did and Always will! Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory!
