Blanche Saunders Obituary

Blanche Lee (Whitaker) Saunders was born on March 8, 1940 to the late Evelyn Crowell in Enfield, North Carolina. On Monday January 21, 2019, she peacefully departed this earth at the age of 78.

 

Blanche Lee attended Inborden Elementary School in Enfield North Carolina. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Philadelphia with her Mom, where she completed her education at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, PA.

 

Blanche Lee married her High School sweetheart and the love of her life James Saunders (deceased). From this union they had five children, and adopted five children. She not only opened her home but she opened her heart as well to many, many foster children.

 

On September 12, 1964 she was baptized as a Jehovah Witness. She had many years of faithful service and on January 1, 2012 she became a pioneer.

 

Blanche Lee worked many years at Morgan Guarantee Trust Bank and with the NYC Board of Education until she retired in 2007.

 

Blanche Saunders was the matriarch of the Saunders family. She was a loving wife and Mom. She loved Jehovah, pioneering, traveling, cooking and was fondly called Ms. Blanch and or Granny.  She loved to laugh and always had a good time with her family and friends. She was a passionate, peaceful and dedicated women.

 

In memory of her husband James J. Saunders, her mother Evelyn Crowell, three brothers: Leroy, Stanley, Sylvester, brother-in-law: Big David, sisters-in-law: Ollie Saunders and Beverly Crossland-Smith (all deceased), she leaves to cherish her memories, six sons and four daughters; James, Andre, (Brenda), Tyrone, Elizabeth, Evelyn, (Eugene) Gary, Malik, Stacey, Christine, (Jason - deceased), and David, (Marcella). Many Grandchildren: Patrice, Michael, Tyrell, Ellis, Ty, Tori, Devante, Naykia, Mykhia, Julian, Armani, Christian, Thomas, Naheme; three Great Grands: Tristian, London, Ellis Jr.; two sister in-laws: Mary Jackson, Burma Crowell and a beloved family dog - Whitey.

 

Special Cousins: Audrey Huggins, Frank McMillian, Ingrid Cheeks, Debra Larson and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

You will surely be missed, RIP mommy.
