Mother Carlene Flowers also known as "apple" who was the second oldest to the late Cecil Sr. and Lucile McKenzie of Birmingham, AL; was a God-fearing woman who served the Lord. At a young age she received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was an active member/sister of the Harvest Zion Church where the late Pastor Braxton preached. The spirit of serving was always apart of her, in her early years she attended trade school to practice nursing and home health care.
Ms. Flowers was one who made it her duty to teach and introduce Christ to her children and children's children and others that she took in as her own. She carried a great sense of humor, her southern roots contributed to her profound cooking skills, and dance moves. Carlene was the epitome of a strong woman as she endured the trials and tribulations of life. Yet, she continued to be there for others. Her home was not just opened to the eight children she had: the late Darryl, the late Windy, the late Darlene, Timmy, Lisa Dubar, Marvin and Rachel. She welcomed and opened her door to those who visited and those who were in need and needed a place to stay.
In her absence from the body, she leaves her siblings; Frank, Cecil Jr , Emma, Mary Ann and close-friend/sister Katherine ("kat") of New Jersey. Her children Timmy, Lisa, Dubar, Marvin and Rachel. Women she took in as her own daughters Kim, Monique, Berta, Lisa M. and Reese. Also, her son close friend William as her own son. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece's, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, care-givers (Julie and Jackie) who she loved dearly to cherish her memories.
