Clyde Anderson Obituary

Clyde Henry Anderson was born on August 19, 1942 in Memphis, TN. He was the third of seven children born to his late parents, Eddie Anderson, Sr. and Emma Kemp Anderson. On Tuesday, July 10, 2018.  Clyde was called home to be with others who have gone on before him; his sisters, Shirley Anderson Franchville and Bernice Anderson Austin, his beloved mother-in-law, Dorothy Roy, brother-in-law Eugene Roy and two sisters-in-laws, Marsha Roy and Rita Roy.

Clyde was an infant when the family relocated to Brooklyn, NY where he would attend PS 44, JHS 35 and George Washington HS. Members of the family would in time relocate to other states, but there was never a state too far away for Clyde not to show up with his love.

Clyde worked for a sanitation company and as a supervisor at and window-blinds factory. Eventually, Clyde would start his own business, glazing bathroom tubs, bathroom sinks and tiles.

Clyde met Maxine in 1980 and the two were joined in holy matrimony in June of 1986. The couple was inseparable for 32 years and were parents to six beautiful children (five girls, Kim, Cheryl, Kecia, Pamela and Lynnette and one boy, Duane.) Always the loving wife, Maxine honored Clyde’s wishes to spend his final days at home by her side.

He is remembered fondly for being a happy, caring, fun and loving brother who made tents with chairs and blankets. Once a family pet boxer was given away for chasing Clyde across a bed and through the house. This sister remembers wondering why a perfectly good dog was removed from the home instead of the real culprit?

From Memphis to Brooklyn, Tommy Hunt to Smokey, Clyde loved the oldies. He had fond memories of singing on the streets of Bed-Stuy and harmonizing with contemporary R&B groups. Most recently, Clyde organized social events for the Rosetta Gaston Citizens Center of Brownsville.  There he also sang with the Men’s Choir for churches and other functions.

He most loved His Eye is on the Sparrow.

I know his eye is on you, dear brother.

Clyde leaves behind, one brother, Eddie Anderson, Jr. three sisters, Gloria Anderson, Lola Anderson Bates and Patricia Anderson Luttrell; three sons-in-laws, Reginald, Michael and Kenny, one daughter-in-law, Kisha; five sisters-in-laws, Fannie Anderson, Linda Roy, Mary Hughley, Sheila Roy, Delores Roy and four brothers-in-laws, Joseph Hughley, Mac Allen Roy, Fredrick Roy and Bryan Roy; 13 granddaughters, nine grandsons and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends deeply saddened by his loss.
