David Saunders was born on January, 28, 1937 to the late Havana Brown and the late James Saunders Sr. from their union there were three children, the late James Sanders, Mrs. Mary E. Jackson and David Saunders.
David Saunders attended School in Enfield North Carolina. In 1957, (Dave) as he was known came to New York City where he worked at Joseph Jacobs Leather Company.
He later in life met and married the late Mrs. Ollie T. Washington Saunders from the union they had three children Wilma L. Saunders-Sutton, Lisa D. Saunders, David Saunders Jr.
David was a family man. He devoted his time to his Granddaughters, each one holds a special place in their heart for their Pop-Pop.
On February 6, 2018 after a long illness God called David home to be with him. He leaves to mourn his three Children: Wilma L. Saunders-Sutton, Lisa D. Saunders, David Saunders Jr.; Five Granddaughters: Lynn “Dione” Rutling, Tiffany & Shaneekqua "Shaday" Nelson, April S.& Shania K. Saunders; One Grandson: Lamar; Ten Great-Grandchildren: Rahquan S. Saunders, Akayzia, Akieyrah & Michael Jr. Rutling, Gamire, Milani Gahier and Maliya, Skylar; Two Sisters: Mrs. Mary E Jackson, Beverly Crossland; One Sister-in-Law: Mrs. Blanch Saunders, Two Son-in-Laws: Michael Sutton and the late Levern Givens; One Grandson-in-Law: Michael Rutling. Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
He will be greatly missed by all. Special thanks to his Niece and Nephew Carolyn J. Saunders and James Saunders Jr when we couldn't be there they stepped in. Two special friends Pearlie Alford and Walter Gadson.
