Doressa Holmes daughter of the late Willie and Annie Holmes was born on January 6, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY. Doressa was the 10th child of 12 children. She was the baby girl of the family. She had a great personality. She loved to smile and laugh, which was very infectious. Doressa was called home on January 23, 2019.
Doressa attended the Brooklyn public school system. She later dedicated her life to raising her four children. After the loss of her oldest child Leon Logan II, she relocated to Manhattan, NY where she raised her three daughters and five grandchildren. Doressa was a happy, loving, strong and social woman. She became involved in the community, where she had breakfast and lunch with friends and joined in the recreational activities, she was well liked and was known as “Ms. D”. She enjoyed family events, listening to music and having life lesson conversations with her girls, and she never missed an opportunity to tell a good joke that was sure to have had everyone chuckling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Annie Holmes, her son, Leon Logan II, four brothers, Herbert, Craig, John, and James Holmes, four sisters, Shirley Holmes, Alice Jones, Pauline Holmes and Florence (Almae) Gibson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, three children: Latisha Jarvis (Jah) of Brooklyn, NY, Tameeka and Latoya Holmes of Manhattan, NY, eight grandchildren, Monice, Melquan, and Malik Norris, Leon Logan III, Talisha Holmes, Jahtia and Jahneil Jarvis, Nasyiah Holmes. Four great grandchildren: Melanie and Meleah Norris, Jhordon and Halo Shade three siblings, Margaret and Joseph Holmes of Brooklyn, NY, and Alexander Holmes (Sheena) of Greensboro, NC and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Life may or may not be the party we hope for, but while we are here, we might as well dance. Every morning when we open our eyes, it’s a special day, every moment and every breathe truly is a gift from God. We have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but will never forget how you make them feel.We love you Doressa!!!
