A luminary named Earl Douglas Holley Sr. was born to the late Annie Lee Leary and Luther Earl Holley. He made his way to the world on January 9, 1943 in Chowan County, North Carolina Earl Douglas Holley Sr. who was lovingly referred to as Pop, Bed- Stuy, OG, Bird and Banpa, was a loving, personable, outspoken, honest, charismatic, authentic man who had a zest for life and he made sure to live life to the fullest. He loved to eat, as he and his daughter Annie went out to eat regularly, where they would often go to Red Lobster. He also loved a good home- cooked meal and it better be good or else he would surely let you know if it wasn't.
Earl /Doug as he was also called came to New York at a very young age and attended elementary school and also attended Franklin K. Lane H.S. where he graduated. He met Arabella D Holley whom he met in 1960, and married on September 1, 1962 and from that union they had a son & a daughter. Earl was a hard- worker and a jack of ALL trades. He often times stressed that any job you did, to learn all areas & aspects of it and to ALWAYS do your very best. He ALWAYS strived for greatness & instilled that in others, at times telling neighborhood teenagers to pick up a book, or to stay in school. He owned a Cleaners in the 70's, sold fruit & vegetables at his store in Long Island, he drove A lumber truck for many years, was a security guard and also worked in a plastic factory.
Earl was an adventurous man who had several race cars, one named, Short -Money that he often raced and won against his contenders. He was also an avid motorcyclist for decades. Earl also loved different types of music, including Rap music, where his favorite artists were Biggie Smalls and Jada Kiss. We are thankful for the life of My Dad, Earl Douglas Holley Sr.. who by our measure has left us too soon.
