Hope Carey Obituary
On Tuesday June 12, 2018 God called, one of his beloved children, Hope E. Carey home.
Hope was born July 24, 1972 to Wendy S. Carey and Kenneth C. Greenidge Jr. in Jamaica Queens, New York. She attended the Academy for Career Education where she received her high school diploma. Hope attained dual college degrees from Guilford Technical Community College and Rockingham Community College. Upon graduation she pursued a career in nursing.
Hope was a nurturer; therefore, it was to no surprise when she chose a career in nursing. She was a vibrant young lady who enjoyed modeling, reading, cooking, couponing, shopping, getting “glammed up”, and most of all spending quality time with family and friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Her comedic style of storytelling would always keep you laughing. She had a smile that could light up a room. Her bubbly personality and sense of humor were contagious.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Wendy Carey; children Semaj Carey and Christian Williams; step-son Shomari Williams; grandson Jalil Carey; fur baby Jerry Carey; two sisters Shener Greenidge (David) and Shariyka Greenidge-Williams (Will); aunt Lisa Carey; her traveling partner/cousin LaJoia Carey; three godchildren Dwayne Saxton Jr., Ebony Sturdivant, and Maya Louis; best friends Marisa Louis, Tomiko Graves, and Kenya Stanley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Hope was preceded in death by her father Kenneth C. Greendige Jr. and her brother Rahsaan Greenidge.
We thank God for allowing us to share so many wonderful years in her presence. Although our hearts are saddened, we accept the wisdom of God, and rejoice in knowing that she’s in His care.
