Pamela Sanders

            Pamela Henrietta Sanders, 53, our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, family member and friend departed her earthly life on July 22, 2018.

            Pam as we called her was born to Marcus and Eleanor Sanders, November 10, 1963 at Queens General Hospital. Her birth was preceded by her elder sister Jacquelyn Sanders and followed by Rodney and Sandra Sanders her brother and sister, respectively. Pam was raised in New York in the Noble Drew Ali Plaza where a “village raised a child.” She attended the New York City education system until high school when she went to Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, North Carolina and graduated with her high school diploma.

            Pam worked for Fedcap Rehabilitation Services as an administrative assistant for 10 plus years before leaving to take care of her new born (Den-us) and be an at home mom. She was an active member of the voter registration platform often working the polls. She sat on the tenant patrol committee and remained involved in these activities as long as her health permitted.

            Pam’s greatest joy was cooking, she was often called the hot wing queen. In addition to cooking she also greatly enjoyed listening gospel music and caring for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her most notable attributes were that she was fun, loving and very giving. However, Pam was also a straight forward woman—you were guaranteed a cussing and door slam if you crossed her. Pam loved to dance and displayed this whenever there was a family gathering, she was light on her feet and always the envy of the party. As a teenager she was a choreographer of a dance group and had to put her sister out of the group for lack of rhythm.

            Pam was a very private person who was battling a variety of illness that her family and friends did not know about. Due to her chronic illness God called her home on Sunday, July 22, 2018.

            Pam leaves to cherish her memory her parents Dennis and Eleanor Noel, her three sons Skylar, Marcus, and Den-us Sanders, as well as her daughter in-law Alasha Joyner; four grandchildren, Skylar Jr., JaQuann, Ja’Siah, and Za’niah (10/2018); siblings Jacquelyn Brathwaite Rodney Sanders, Sandra Sanders as well as brother in-law, Adrian Brathwaite and sister in-law Marlene Stewart; aunt and uncle James and Rebecca Tucker; nieces and nephews Duane, Lanora, Timeeka, Donovan, Jaquan, Devin, Zhaire, Zachary and Renisha who will always remember the kindness and generosity of their beloved Aunt Pam.
