Russell Jones

Russell Nathaniel Jones crossed over to rejoin God on Thursday February 7, 2019. Russell was born on August 15th, 1960 in the Bronx, New York. He attended Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx and, later in life, attended Apex Technical School.

Russell was the oldest of four children. He was very protective of his youngest siblings and the rest of the family.  During his childhood, Russell along with his sisters were raised to enjoy and appreciate all types of music. He was the dancer of the family.  As a child, Russell traveled extensively with his grandmother, the late Augusta Jones and his sisters during summer vacations. He was also an avid reader. He spent a large portion of his childhood with his uncle in Westchester County, New York. Russell was a serious cyclist, a hobby that he kept throughout his life.

Russell did tons of volunteer work. His love for helping others was seen at The House of David Pentecostal Church in East New York, under Pastor Cook.

Russell leaves to cherish his memory his mother Helen, daughter Sygamora, son Andre and grandson Ka’mel. His sisters: Nelceina, Janet and Jaz and his childhood best friend and God brother Alfonso and longtime friend Jonathan.

Our family would like to express its heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Bobby and Shirley Montgomery and their family for embracing Russell as if he were their own. We will always cherish the warmth and support you gave him throughout the years. You helped to make his life wonderful and we will never forget it.
