Annie B. Ballard was born on June 23rd, 1941, in Miami, FL to both Isaac and Eva Lamb.
She was educated at Dorsey High School in Liberty City, Miami, FL, then furthered her education in Peekskill, NY for a Bachelor’s degree. Annie sat on the Board of Education as an Executive Assistant throughout her early years. Her love for music was undeniable, especially her favorite Civilla D. Martin’s “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” Annie was the smartest, tidiest, funniest, coolest, most stylish Queen known by many. To add on, inspirational, caring and definitely a pillar in her community. No matter what room she entered, her energy always radiated throughout the universe.
She leaves behind her only child, the beautiful loving Yolanda Torres, maiden name Yolanda Ballard, her grandsons Anthony Green and Malcolm Wicks, her great grandchild Shanya Green and her son in law Carlos Torres. She always loved when we came over to celebrate her birthday, or showered her in an abundance of joy on Mother’s Day. She had an undeniable love for her grandchildren. Annie transitioned peacefully at 3:38 am, early Monday morning on March 8th, 2021. She was in the comfort of her daughter Yolanda Torres, who witnessed her mother’s last breath, as Annie was there to witness her daughter’s first.
She leaves behind her sisters Edith Lamb, Ruth Montgomery, Joyce Green; Her brothers Isaac Lamb, Cecil Lamb, Fredrick Lamb and Kelvin Lamb; Her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We all have our own special memories of who Annie Ballard was, but one thing for certain that we all can agree on is, Annie didn’t take no mess! She’ll always be watching over us as her spirit now lives through us.
