Elwood Martin Wright Jr. Obituary
Obituary
Elwood Martin Wright Jr. AKA Marty, Mark, Marcel, or El was born December 9,1974 in Brooklyn New York to Elwood Wright Sr., and Imogene Odelia Wright. Tragically, after fighting an extended illness, which he kept private, he passed away June 4, 2025.
He grew up in St. Paul Community Baptist Church in East New York and he attended Epiphany Lutheran school in Brooklyn and graduated from The Brooklyn Comprehensive Night High School.
At an early age he developed a love for sports. He and his sister Michele Wright would always run track. He also played football and took pride passing that passion over to his son, Tyjamalic. Marty always wanted to sing in the choir. The bible says, “make a joyful noise” but his singing would make you wish that you didn’t have ears.
Marty worked many jobs from Frito Lay, Cable Vision, Solar and Spectrum. He also had a “true hustler’s soul” allowing him to be almost 20 years ahead of the game on some of the devices and products, he would sell.
Marty spent years being a ladies’ man but finally found the love of his life Gwendolyn Rowell Aka Spice. Marty loved his Spice, and every time he spoke with his son, he would be talking about his Spice.
He is now reunited with his Spice in the presence of the Lord. He has also reunited with his lovely mother, Imogene Wright, grandparents Harry Lee and Odelia Louise Wiley, grandparents, James and Clarice Ann Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Tyjamalic Wright and fiancée Breanna, his grandson Tyjaamir Wright, his father Elwood Wright Sr., and wife Flora, his sister Michele, his nephew Julian, his uncle and aunt Terry and Gayle Wiley, cousins Kelby, Jameel, and Tammy. His lifelong “road dog” Gate Quick and God daughter Sofie and a host of other relatives and friends.
