Ronald Courts was born on December 31, 1947 in Harlem, NY to the late Halforest Courts and Nancy Jane Kelly Courts-Stephens. He departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ.
Ronald was educated in the New York City School System. Attending P.S. 68, James Fenimore Cooper, Jr. H.S. and graduating from Benjamin Franklin H.S. in 1965. He attended the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Harlem, NY and was baptized when he was 12 years old.
After graduation, he was employed by the St. Mary’s Community Center in the Bronx, NY. Wanting more opportunities and responsibilities, he then went on to work for The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in their membership department. He retired after 30 years of service.
Ronald enjoyed his retirement. He had a love for music, sports and chest. He enjoyed watching Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds and the News. He spent every other Saturday with his daughter Heather. He truly loved his children and his family in his own special way. He was a man of discipline, principles and no nonsense, which is how he carried himself. He had a faith and love for God that only his brother-in-law (Bishop D’Joy) knew because of their many conversations over the years. He was always happy to receive a call from his brother Robert, and that daily call from his sister Gloria.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Susan Donegan-Courts, his sons Ronald Courts, Jr. and Jamel Courts; his daughters Heather Courts and Eboney Courts. His grandson Ramel Courts. His mother Nancy Jane Courts-Stephens, his sister Gloria Courts-Willis D’Joy (Etoile), his brother Robert Stephens (Genevieve). Two nieces Joanna Willis-Oldacre (Gregory) and Jennifer Stephens. One Nephew Robert Stephens Jr. Great nieces and nephews and many cousins and dear friends.
