OBITUARY OF SELWYN L CUPID (November 29, 1947 – March 6, 2025)

Selwyn L Cupid was born on November 29, 1947, in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago Port of Spain to late Dulcie Cupid and Cuphbert Cupid. He was Predeceased along with his brother LeonCupid. Selwyn, known as “The Real Cupid,” was funny, loving, determined and full of joy. There was never a dull moment when Selwyn was around.

As a kid Selwyn attended Rosary Boys School in Trinidad. Cupid was not alone growing up; he was raised with his four brothers (Anal, Robert, Marvin& Leon) along with three sisters (Monica, Maureen & Cheryl). As a young man Selwyn chased his dream of playing pan for Amoco Renegades Steel Orchestra Band. Even though his father did not approve of this and kicked him out for it, he did not let that stop him. Determine as stated. Selwyn joined the band and started his travels along with them. For some reason once the band hit America it was something about America he did not want to leave. He abandoned his band and made America his new home. Before leaving his hometownTrinidad Selwyn made sure he left his mark behindwith his three sons followed by his first daughter.

Starting his new life in America his first stop was Brooklyn, NY. Once he started making his new life in Brooklyn, he quickly began to gain love from everybody around him. He then Decided he was dropping out the Band and starting his career working in Ali Roti’s shop along with Ali doing another thing he loves COOKING. At this moment he felt it was time to make his mark in Brooklyn where he had his second daughter. By this time, he felt the need to have a change in careers and started working for ASA college as an Advisor most for most of the 2000’s.

Although Brooklyn felt like home to him he then migrated to the Bronx NY where he settled down and officially made there his home. Just when he thought he was done with his marks he then had his last daughter. By this time, he decided to settle into his older years and live the rest of his life quietly, calmly, and fun.

Selwyn L Cupid leave behind 7 siblings Monica Nanton ( Sister), Anal Cupid (Brother) Maureen Cupid (Sister), Robert Cupid (Brother), Cheryl Cupid (Sister) & Leon Cupid (Decease Brother)Marvin Cupid (Brother) and 6 children Jason George (Son), Kenneth Cupid (Son), Kerwin Alexander (Son) , Sparkle Cupid (Daughter), Kanesha Edwards (Daughter) & Kayla Drawhorn(Daughter) that love and will miss him dearly. He also leave behind 14 grandkids and multiple nieces and nephews. Along with his closet friends more like family Hilton and Kareem Aaron along with the Aaron family. Also, many other friends, family, and loved ones.
